Vigilance Nabs ACSO in Keonjhar Over ₹15K Bribe
Bhubaneswar/Keonjhar: Odisha Vigilance officials arrested Assistant Civil Supplies Officer (ACSO) Dhumaram Murmu in Champua, Keonjhar, after he was caught red‑handed accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000.
The bribe was allegedly demanded from a local LAMPCS in charge of clearing paddy procurement files under the ongoing Kharif Marketing Season.
Acting on a complaint, Vigilance sleuths laid a trap and seized the entire bribe amount from Murmu.
Investigators revealed that he had been demanding similar payments from other procurement centres as well.
Following the arrest, simultaneous searches were conducted at Murmu’s office and residence to trace disproportionate assets.
A case has been registered at Balasore Vigilance Police Station (Case No. 08/2026) under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.
Authorities confirmed that further investigation is underway to identify additional irregularities and financial links.
