Udala MLA Bhaskar Madhei Confronted During Flood Relief Visit in Mayurbhanj
During a flood relief inspection in Mayurbhanj, Udala MLA Bhaskar Madhei faced verbal abuse and aggression from a local youth.
A video of the incident quickly went viral on social media, showing the man hurling obscene language and allegedly attempting to assault the legislator.
Madhei, who was assessing the flood situation, paused to thank a volunteer distributing food. At that moment, another youth—reportedly intoxicated—accused him of visiting only for votes and began shouting abuses.
The MLA tried to reason calmly but expressed irritation at the behaviour.
Later, Madhei clarified that the video exaggerated the incident, stressing that he was there to support relief efforts.
Despite his explanation, the clip has sparked widespread debate online about public interactions with elected representatives during crises.
This confrontation underscores the challenges faced by politicians in disaster‑hit regions, where emotions often run high and relief efforts are closely scrutinised.
