Truck Fire on Bhadrak NH‑16: Driver & Helper Narrowly Escape

Bhadrak (Odisha): A goods‑laden truck caught fire late Tuesday night on National Highway‑16 near Bhandaripokhari market, causing panic among commuters.

The driver and helper narrowly escaped with minor injuries after jumping out moments before the flames engulfed the vehicle.

According to eyewitnesses, the truck carrying iron materials lost balance, hit the divider, and immediately burst into flames.

The fire spread rapidly due to fuel leakage and the heavy load. Locals quickly alerted the fire brigade, which managed to douse the blaze after an hour‑long operation.

Traffic on the busy NH‑16 was disrupted as vehicles lined up on both sides during firefighting efforts.

Police reached the spot to assist in clearing the route.

Preliminary reports suggest a mechanical fault triggered the fire following the collision.
