Odisha Police Rolls Out NSG, Anti‑Drone Shield for Rath Yatra 2026
Puri, Odisha: The Odisha Police has unveiled a comprehensive three‑tier security plan for the upcoming Rath Yatra 2026, scheduled for July 16.
With millions of devotees expected to throng the holy city, authorities are deploying NSG commandos, anti‑drone systems, marine units, and Quick Response Teams (QRTs) to ensure foolproof safety.
The blueprint includes land, sea, and air surveillance, with joint patrolling by the Indian Navy, Coast Guard, and Odisha Police marine units.
Anti‑sabotage checks, bomb disposal squads, and sniffer dogs will be stationed at sensitive points, while hotels, lodges, bus stands, and railway stations will undergo strict monitoring.
To prevent crowding and maintain order, barricading will be reinforced, chariot pulling will be regulated, and darshan arrangements streamlined.
Senior officers from Odisha Police, CRPF, BSF, RPF, and Coast Guard participated in a high‑level coordination meeting chaired by DGP Yogesh Bahadur Khurania.
The overarching goal: a peaceful, incident‑free Rath Yatra that safeguards both tradition and public safety.
