Tragedy in Ganjam: Two Class 10 Boys Drown in Pond
In a tragic incident, two Class 10 students drowned in a pond at Ankuli Nuabandh under Badyanathpur police limits in Ganjam district.
The victims, identified as Biswajit Panda of Gajapati Nagar and Abhijit Mandi of Khodasingh, had gone to the pond to play when they accidentally slipped into deep water.
Local residents rushed to rescue the boys but were unable to save them.
The fire brigade later retrieved the bodies, which were taken to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur. Doctors declared them dead upon arrival.
Police have sent the bodies for post‑mortem and initiated an investigation, questioning nearby residents to gather details.
The incident has cast a pall of grief over the community, with authorities urging parents to remain vigilant as children often play near ponds in the area.
