Three Women Rescued from Alleged Abduction at Bhubaneswar Bus Terminal

Bhubaneswar, June 9: Panic gripped commuters at the Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bus Terminal in Baramunda on Monday night after three women, including a minor, escaped an alleged abduction attempt.

According to eyewitnesses, the women fled from individuals linked to an NGO associated with an ashram and ran into the terminal, hiding under parked buses and in narrow lanes to evade capture.

The chase alarmed passengers and staff, prompting immediate intervention by terminal security personnel.

The women were rescued and handed over to police, who later shifted them to a short‑stay home for safety.

Authorities are now reviewing CCTV footage to reconstruct the sequence of events and identify those involved.

Police have launched an investigation into allegations of wrongful confinement and attempted abduction.

The case underscores the importance of surveillance and rapid response measures at public transport hubs, where vulnerable individuals often seek refuge.
