Sundargarh Police Bust Major Gambling Den, 26 Arrested

Sundargarh police carried out a midnight raid in Jamjharia forest under Hemgiri police station, near the Odisha–Chhattisgarh border, following secret intelligence inputs.

Acting under the instructions of Superintendent of Police Amritpal Kaur, the team arrested 26 individuals involved in illegal gambling.

During the operation, authorities seized Rs 11,16,900 in cash, nine motorcycles, three cars, 31 mobile phones, and a large quantity of playing cards.

Officials described the crackdown as one of the biggest actions against gambling in the district in recent times.

Police confirmed that investigations are underway to trace the wider network behind the racket.

They also warned that similar dens operating in remote areas will face raids, reinforcing their commitment to curbing illegal activities and maintaining law and order in Sundargarh.
