Odisha Minor Girl Trafficked to Jhansi, Prime Accused Nabbed

Bhubaneswar: In a major breakthrough, Odisha police have arrested the prime accused in a shocking human trafficking case involving a minor girl.

According to reports, Vinod Patra of Dihajodi village in Dhenkanal district lured the girl with false promises of employment in Bhubaneswar.

Instead, she was trafficked to Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, where she was repeatedly sold and subjected to sexual exploitation for nearly two years.

The victim managed to escape and return to Kamakhyanagar, where she lodged a complaint with the police.

Acting swiftly, a special three‑member team tracked Patra to Badra in the Annamayya district of Andhra Pradesh and arrested him.

Police have produced the accused in court and are now working to identify and apprehend others involved in the trafficking network.

Authorities emphasised that further investigation is underway to dismantle the wider nexus.
