Subarnapur Tragedy: Elderly Man Killed, Wife Injured in Wall Collapse

Subarnapur district witnessed a tragic incident when the wall of a house collapsed in Nayakpada village under Ulunda block.

The mishap claimed the life of 72‑year‑old Sadanand Nayak, while his wife, 65‑year‑old Premsila Nayak, sustained critical injuries.

According to locals, heavy rains had waterlogged the surroundings, weakening the structure.

On Saturday evening, the wall gave way, trapping the couple inside.

Fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot after being alerted by villagers and rescued the duo.

Sadanand was declared dead on the spot, while Premsila was admitted to the district hospital in critical condition.

Police registered an unnatural death case and handed over the body to relatives after post‑mortem.

The couple lived alone as their sons work outside the village.
