State Election Commission Sounds Poll Bugle for 2027 Local Elections
The State Election Commission (SEC) of Odisha has formally initiated preparations for the 2027 Panchayat and Urban Local Body (ULB) elections.
In a directive issued on July 6, 2026, the SEC instructed all Collectors and District Magistrates to attend a video conference scheduled for July 21, 2026, at 11:30 AM via the OSWAN platform.
The meeting, chaired by the State Election Commissioner, will review the door‑to‑door survey for updating electoral rolls, clearance of pending DC bills, and utilisation certificates from the 2022 ULB elections.
Additional District Magistrates, Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant EROs, and senior district officials are expected to participate.
The SEC emphasised accurate voter data collection, timely financial compliance, and streamlined coordination between field officers and election authorities.
This directive marks the first major administrative step toward comprehensive electoral planning for the upcoming polls.
