Squally Weather Alert: IMD Warns Odisha Fishermen

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a squally weather warning along and off the Odisha coast, cautioning fishermen against venturing into the sea on July 6 and 7, 2026.

Wind speeds are expected to range between 35–45 kmph, with gusts reaching up to 55 kmph.

According to IMD, the sea conditions will remain moderate to rough during this period due to active monsoon currents and the influence of a cyclonic depression.

Several coastal districts have already experienced heavy rainfall, prompting authorities to advise strict adherence to safety measures.

Fishermen have been urged to stay ashore until conditions improve, while coastal residents are advised to remain alert for updates.

The IMD continues to monitor the situation closely and will issue further advisories as needed.
