Servitor Suspended in Puri Jagannath Temple Ahead of Rath Yatra

Puri, Odisha: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has suspended servitor Rasmi Ranjan Datta Mahapatra for alleged indiscipline during the sacred Banaka Lagi ritual of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra.

According to reports, Mahapatra misbehaved with the temple Commander and even attempted to assault him.

The incident prompted immediate intervention by police and temple authorities to ensure the smooth continuation of rituals.

SJTA Chief Administrator Arabinda Kumar Padhee ordered the suspension after receiving a detailed report from the Commander.

The action comes just a day before the annual Rath Yatra, when lakhs of devotees are expected to gather in Puri.

Mahapatra will remain suspended until further orders, with temple authorities emphasising discipline and sanctity during the upcoming festival.
