Second Choudwar Jail Fugitive Nabbed in Rishikesh
Cuttack: Commissionerate Police have arrested fugitive prisoner Raja Sahani in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, days after his daring escape from Choudwar Jail on October 3, 2025.
Sahani, who had disguised himself to evade detection, was tracked down by a special team from Cuttack UPD and brought back to Odisha on transit remand for further investigation.
This marks the second successful capture following the arrest of Madhukant Rana in Vrindavan. However, the third escapee remains at large, keeping police on high alert.
The trio had fled on Dussehra day by cutting through the jail grill, raising serious concerns about prison security and possible insider involvement.
Authorities are now probing the escape route, potential accomplices, and lapses in vigilance that enabled the jailbreak.
The incident has sparked widespread debate over prison infrastructure and the urgent need for stronger surveillance measures to prevent such breaches in the future.
