Sambalpur Assistant Director Arrested in Disproportionate Assets Case
Odisha Vigilance has arrested Umakant Samantaray, Assistant Director of Factories & Boilers in Sambalpur, for allegedly possessing disproportionate assets far beyond his known sources of income.
Acting on credible intelligence, Vigilance teams conducted simultaneous raids across multiple locations, uncovering a staggering portfolio of properties and valuables.
The findings include four multi‑storeyed buildings in Bhubaneswar and Puri, a luxury flat, and 30 prime land plots.
Officials also seized 300 grams of gold, bank deposits worth ₹36.78 lakh, and several high‑end vehicles.
Samantaray was taken into custody and will be produced before the Special Judge, Vigilance Court in Sambalpur.
A formal case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act (Case No. 18/2026).
Investigations are ongoing to trace additional financial trails and possible benami holdings.
This arrest underscores Odisha Vigilance’s intensified crackdown on corruption within government departments.
