Malkangiri Police Bust Interstate Cattle Smuggling Racket, Rescue 32 Cattle
Kalimela Police in Malkangiri district have rescued 32 cattle during a raid near Venkatapalam village, acting on a reliable tip-off about illegal livestock trade.
Inspector-in-Charge Prabhudatta Biswal led a special team that intercepted the smugglers and seized the animals.
A veterinary officer examined the rescued cattle to ensure their health and safety.
Authorities have registered Case No. 238/26 under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960.
The accused are currently under interrogation, with preliminary findings pointing to interstate smuggling links.
Police have reiterated their zero-tolerance stance, warning that strict legal consequences await those involved in cattle trafficking.
