Puri Technician Collapses from Heatstroke, Rescued After 3 Hours
Puri (Odisha): A young mobile tower technician, Sarbeshwar Behera from Ganjam district, suffered a severe heatstroke while repairing a tower in Krushnaprasad block on Thursday.
According to reports, Behera collapsed atop the tower near Titip village and remained stranded for over three hours.
Local youths and fire brigade personnel eventually rescued him and rushed him to Krushnaprasad Community Health Centre, where he is under medical supervision in the heatstroke ward.
The incident has raised serious concerns about the enforcement of safety guidelines, as outdoor work between 11 AM and 2 PM is officially restricted during peak summer.
Authorities have initiated a probe to determine who instructed Behera to work during the prohibited hours and under what circumstances the lapse occurred.
This case underscores the urgent need for stricter compliance with heat safety protocols to protect workers exposed to extreme conditions.
