Puri–Koraput Triweekly Express Regularised to Boost Odisha Connectivity

The Puri–Koraput Triweekly Express has officially been converted into a regular service, marking a significant step in strengthening rail connectivity across Odisha.

The service was flagged off on 6 July 2026 at Puri Railway Station by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.

The train will operate thrice weekly in both directions:

  • Train No. 18407 (Puri–Koraput) departs at 07:00 hrs every Monday, Thursday, and Saturday, reaching Koraput at 23:30 hrs.
  • Train No. 18408 (Koraput–Puri) departs at 05:00 hrs every Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday, arriving in Puri at 22:20 hrs.

With 18 modern LHB coaches, including AC, sleeper, and Divyang‑friendly compartments, the train will connect coastal, central, western, and southern Odisha.

Key halts include Bhubaneswar, Dhenkanal, Sambalpur, Balangir, Titlagarh, and Rayagada.

Officials highlighted that the service will enhance tourism, pilgrimage, trade, and education, while also contributing to socio‑economic development by providing direct and convenient connectivity across diverse regions of the state.
