Puri Flood Relief: Minister Pujari Assures “Money No Barrier” for Assistance

Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari reviewed flood‑affected areas in Puri district, assuring that financial constraints will not hinder relief operations.

According to official data, 19 villages across 14 panchayats in Puri Sadar, Nimapada, Pipili, Delanga, and Kanas blocks have been impacted, affecting 17,221 people.

Relief materials, including 46.07 quintals of flattened rice and 5.325 quintals of jaggery, have been distributed.

Agricultural losses are significant, with 3,778 hectares of farmland damaged.

Emergency response teams have been deployed: six medical units, 12 fire service squads, and 11 veterinary teams.

Authorities also reported that 20 pregnant women were shifted to health centres, and nine infants were born during the floods.

During a review meeting, local MLAs raised concerns and suggested measures.

Minister Pujari emphasised preparedness to manage situations even if 12 lakh cusecs of water reach Munduli in Cuttack, ensuring river overflow is prevented.

A joint damage assessment report will guide further assistance.

District Collector Divyajyoti Parida and senior officials were present at the meeting.
