President Murmu’s Rourkela Visit on April 21, 2026 – Steel Plant & Airport Expansion in Focus

Rourkela, Odisha: President Droupadi Murmu will embark on a one‑day visit to Rourkela on April 21, 2026, marking a significant moment for the steel city.

Ahead of the visit, Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram met Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi to review preparations and discuss key developmental projects.

Discussions centred on the Rourkela Steel Plant expansion, land acquisition progress, and the transfer of land to the Airport Authority of India for Rourkela Airport’s expansion.

The President’s itinerary is expected to include multiple public programs, underscoring Rourkela’s growing importance as an industrial and educational hub.

Minister Oram also welcomed the Odisha government’s recent decision to extend reservation benefits in medical, engineering, and professional education to SC, ST, and SEBC students, calling it a progressive step for inclusive development.

President Murmu’s visit is anticipated to boost regional pride and highlight Rourkela’s role in Odisha’s industrial and educational landscape.
