Phuluri Oil Applied, Osha Lagi Rituals Begin at Jagannath Temple

Puri: The sacred rituals of Anasara at the Jagannath Temple have entered a crucial stage with the commencement of Osha Lagi today.

Following the application of Phuluri oil on Anasara Panchami, servitors began administering Osha—a traditional Ayurvedic medicine—to Lord Jagannath and the sibling deities inside the Anasara Gruha.

The ritual, performed in complete darkness under the guidance of the Raja Vaidya, symbolises the divine recovery of the Lord from a ceremonial fever.

These practices are deeply rooted in tradition and highlight the temple’s unique blend of spirituality and healing.

Meanwhile, preparations for the grand Ratha Yatra are in full swing. Construction of the three majestic chariots is nearing completion, with fittings and decorations being finalised.

Chitrakara servitors are painting the charioteers, horses, and external structures in vibrant hues, adding to the festive anticipation.

With just 10 days left for the annual Ratha Yatra, devotees across Odisha and beyond eagerly await the divine spectacle that embodies renewal, devotion, and cultural grandeur.
