Payal Nag Shines: Odisha Para‑Archer Bags Double Gold in Bangkok
Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s ace para‑archer Payal Nag was felicitated by the State Sports & Youth Services Department for her remarkable achievements at the World Para Archery Series 2026 in Bangkok, where she clinched two gold medals and secured qualification for the upcoming Para Asian Games.
At a ceremony attended by Sports Minister Suryabansi Suraj, Kantabanji MLA Laxman Bag, and senior DSYS officials, Nag was honoured with a cash award of Rs 5,46,666 for her medals and an additional Rs 3,23,100 to procure advanced sports equipment.
Minister Suraj hailed her success as “a proud moment for Odisha and the nation,” praising her discipline and determination.
Expressing gratitude, Nag said the recognition motivates her to strive harder and bring more laurels to the country.
The Odisha government reaffirmed its commitment to supporting athletes with world‑class infrastructure, financial assistance, and high‑performance initiatives, ensuring they excel on the global stage.
