Over 57,000 Candidates Sit for NEET‑UG Re‑Exam in Odisha Amid Tight Security
Bhubaneswar: More than 57,000 aspirants appeared for the NEET‑UG re‑examination across Odisha on June 21, following the cancellation of the May 3 test due to allegations of a question paper leak.
The re‑exam was conducted at over 130 centres statewide, as part of a nationwide exercise covering 551 cities in India and 14 overseas locations.
Candidates wrote the exam in English and 12 Indian languages, with over 95,000 exam rooms monitored under CCTV surveillance to ensure transparency.
Police personnel were deployed outside all centres to maintain order.
The exam ran from 2 pm to 5:15 pm, with an additional 15 minutes granted to candidates.
To ease travel, the Odisha government arranged free bus services for candidates and their guardians, including return trips.
Road safety enforcement checks were waived for the day, while special traffic management was implemented in Bhubaneswar.
The NEET‑UG exam serves as the gateway for admission to undergraduate medical courses across India.
