Orissa High Court Issues Notice Over Subarnapur Home Guard Recruitment Irregularities

The Orissa High Court has taken serious note of alleged irregularities in the recruitment of Home Guards in Subarnapur district.

Acting on a petition filed by aggrieved aspirants, the court has issued notices to the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Subarnapur and other concerned authorities, seeking clarification on the matter.

According to the petition, the recruitment of 92 Home Guards violated established guidelines, as candidates from outside designated police station jurisdictions were appointed, sidelining local aspirants who were eligible.

The petitioners argued that this not only undermined fairness but also deprived local candidates of rightful opportunities.

The High Court observed that the validity of the recruitment process would depend on the outcome of the case.

Authorities have been directed to submit detailed clarifications, with the matter scheduled for further hearing on February 23, 2026.

The case is expected to have significant implications for recruitment practices in the state, potentially impacting appointments already made.
