Odisha Tourism Wins Best Wildlife Conservation Award at IITM Hyderabad
Odisha Tourism has once again proven its commitment to sustainable travel by winning the prestigious “Best Wildlife Conservation Effort in India” award at the India International Travel Mart (IITM) in Hyderabad.
The three-day exhibition, held at the HITEX Exhibition Centre, brought together more than 200 exhibitors from across India and abroad.
Odisha stood out with its immersive pavilion showcasing eco-retreats, nature trails, heritage circuits, and adventure offerings.
The award recognised Odisha’s exemplary initiatives in protecting wildlife habitats, conserving endangered species, and promoting eco-friendly tourism.
Key highlights include the preservation of biodiversity in Similipal National Park, Bhitarkanika National Park, and Satkosia Tiger Reserve, along with globally acclaimed conservation efforts for Olive Ridley turtle breeding grounds at Gahirmatha and Rushikulya.
Odisha Tourism’s participation underscored its vision of balancing tourism growth with conservation priorities.
Initiatives such as low-impact ecotourism infrastructure, trained community eco-guides, interpretation centres, and responsible visitor management systems have positioned the state as a national benchmark in ecotourism.
By winning this award, Odisha strengthens its reputation as one of India’s most sustainable and future-ready travel destinations.
