Odisha to Boost Tourism with Tent Cities and Glamping
Bhubaneswar: In a bid to enhance visitor experiences and bridge the accommodation gap at scenic destinations, the Odisha Tourism Department has announced plans to introduce tent cities and glamping facilities across the state.
These eco‑friendly, temporary accommodations will cater to tourists seeking affordable yet modern lodging options at popular and emerging sites.
Unlike permanent hotels and resorts, government land leases for such projects will be capped at 30 years, encouraging innovation while ensuring sustainable land use.
The Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO) will design evaluation criteria based on project type, investment, and sustainability.
Final approvals will be routed through the single‑window system after recommendations from the Tourism Department.
Officials believe this initiative will not only improve visitor comfort but also boost tourist footfall, generate local employment, and align with Odisha’s sustainable tourism policy.
By blending luxury camping with natural beauty, the state aims to position itself as a preferred destination for both domestic and international travellers.
