Odisha Showcases Industrial Edge in Chemicals Sector Push
Odisha positioned itself as a rising hub for chemicals and petrochemicals at the Global CEO Roundtable on India’s Chemicals Sector in New Delhi, convened by the Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals and Invest India.
Union Minister JP Nadda reaffirmed central support for emerging hubs at Gopalpur and Paradip, while MoS Anupriya Patel highlighted reforms to ease investment processes.
Industries Department ACS Hemant Sharma showcased Odisha’s advantages—long coastline, strategic ports, industrial land, feedstock availability, and utilities—making the state competitive for chemicals, petrochemicals, plastics, and allied manufacturing.
Key destinations include the PCPIR at Paradip anchored by IOC’s refinery, the port-based complex at Dhamra, and industrial areas near Gopalpur Port with blanket environmental clearances.
Odisha’s Industrial Policy Resolution 2022 identifies chemicals, petrochemicals, and technical textiles as thrust sectors, qualifying for maximum incentives.
The delegation engaged with companies exploring projects in titanium pigments, adhesives, BOPP films, and fertilisers.
The vision aligns with Samruddha Odisha by 2036, focusing on downstream value addition, strengthening value chains, and generating employment.
