Odisha Flood Situation Under Control: Rivers Flowing Below Danger Levels
Bhubaneswar: The Water Resources Department has confirmed that all major rivers in Odisha are flowing safely below danger marks, easing fears of flooding across the state.
The Hirakud reservoir is currently discharging water through 16 gates, with inflow measured at 3.38 lakh cusecs and outflow at 2.88 lakh cusecs.
The water level stands at 623.19 feet.
Meanwhile, the Mahanadi river system has seen rising flows at Khairmal and Barmul, with Munduli expected to record 6.5 lakh cusecs by evening.
Officials stressed that this remains below the danger threshold.
Chief Engineer Dilip Raut assured that all systems are under control, though rainfall in upper catchment areas could raise Hirakud’s water level further.
Authorities are closely monitoring river levels and have advised residents in low‑lying areas to remain alert.
