Nuapada Scam Triggers Statewide Vigilance Drive
Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Revenue and Disaster Management Department has directed all district administrations to tighten vigilance over land registration processes following a major fraud in Nuapada district.
Sarveshwar Jaal, Tahsildar of Komna and acting Sub‑Registrar, was suspended after allegedly facilitating fraudulent registration of a large land parcel.
The incident has prompted the government to adopt a zero‑tolerance stance against irregularities in land records.
Additional Chief Secretary Dr Arabinda Kumar Padhee emphasised the need for transparency and accountability, urging collectors to conduct surprise inspections and regular monitoring of registration offices.
The directive also highlights the adoption of technology‑driven systems to prevent malpractice and ensure compliance with rules.
The government reiterated that misconduct will invite strict action, underscoring its commitment to clean governance and public trust in land administration.
