Free Ama Bus Travel for Women on Raksha Bandhan Across Odisha Cities

On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan (27 August 2026), the Comprehensive Region Urban Transport (CRUT) has announced free Ama Bus rides for all women passengers across seven major cities in Odisha — Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Puri, Rourkela, Sambalpur, Berhampur, and Kendujhar.

The initiative, launched under the guidance of Chief Minister and Housing & Urban Development Minister Dr Krushna Chandra Mahapatra, is expected to benefit over one lakh women in a single day.

Ama Buses are equipped with GPS tracking, CCTV surveillance, trained staff, and passenger assistance systems, ensuring safe and reliable travel.

Women passengers will be issued a ‘Zero Ticket’ to board, with CRUT requesting cooperation for smooth operations.

CRUT Managing Director Md. Sadique Alam, IAS, emphasised that the scheme is more than a festive gesture — it reflects the government’s commitment to inclusive, dignified, and affordable mobility for women.

This symbolic offer not only celebrates Raksha Bandhan but also strengthens women’s confidence and ease of daily travel across Odisha.
