Odisha Police and STA Partner with IIT Madras for Crash Investigation Training

Cuttack witnessed a significant step toward strengthening road safety as the Odisha Police and State Transport Authority (STA) organised a one‑day crash investigation training program.

The workshop, conducted in collaboration with technical experts from IIT Madras and STA consultants, focused on scientific methods of analysing road accidents.

Participants were trained in crash scene examination, evidence collection, reconstruction techniques, and identifying engineering and human factors contributing to accidents.

Dr Satyajit Naik, IGP (Central Range), emphasised that every crash highlights systemic gaps that can guide preventive measures.

Transport Commissioner‑cum‑Chairman STA, Shri Amitabh Thakur, underscored the importance of scientific investigation and coordinated stakeholder action, calling road safety a shared responsibility.

Certificates were distributed to participants, marking Odisha’s commitment to building a technology‑enabled, evidence‑based road safety ecosystem.
