Odisha Minister Warns of Strict Action Over Tricolour Disrespect Ahead of Independence Day
Bhubaneswar: Odisha Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari has issued a stern warning against any act of disrespect toward the national flag in the run‑up to Independence Day.
He emphasised that the tricolour is a symbol of national pride and must be treated with utmost reverence.
Pujari urged citizens to embrace patriotic practices such as reciting Vande Mataram and showing love for the flag, while criticising those who refuse to do so as displaying an “anti‑patriotic attitude.”
The minister’s remarks have stirred political debate, with questions raised about whom his warning was directed at.
Meanwhile, district officials have been instructed to ensure proper observance of flag protocols during the August 15 celebrations.
His statement underscores the government’s focus on safeguarding national symbols and reinforcing patriotic sentiment as the country prepares to mark its 79th Independence Day.
