Odisha Minister Urges Citizen‑Centric Gram Sabhas on Gandhi Jayanti

Bhubaneswar: Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, and Drinking Water Minister Rabi Narayan Naik has called upon all Sarpanches to ensure that the upcoming Gram Sabhas on October 2, Gandhi Jayanti, are participatory and people‑focused.

Highlighting Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of Gram Swaraj, the Minister emphasised that villagers must play a proactive role in identifying local issues, development priorities, and welfare needs.

He urged leaders to adopt the People’s Plan Campaign 2026–27, ensuring that Gram Panchayat Development Plans (GPDPs) reflect genuine community input.

This year’s Gram Sabha will also mark Reform Utsav, celebrating rural reforms and welfare schemes.

Naik stressed that grassroots participation is essential for strengthening democracy and driving inclusive rural development.
