Odisha Leaders Pay Tribute to Gandhi and Shastri on October 2
Bhubaneswar: Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, and Assembly Speaker Surama Padhy led tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri on their birth anniversaries at the Odisha Legislative Assembly.
Chief Minister Majhi recalled Gandhi’s pivotal role in India’s freedom struggle and his enduring principles of truth, non-violence, Satyagraha, and Swadeshi.
He linked these ideals to present-day initiatives such as Swachh Bharat Mission and Atmanirbhar Bharat, stressing their relevance in building a self-reliant and clean India.
Majhi also honoured Lal Bahadur Shastri’s simplicity, integrity, and his iconic slogan “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan”, which continues to inspire citizens to uphold responsibility and national service.
The Chief Minister reaffirmed Odisha’s commitment to prosperity and contribution to a developed India, guided by Gandhi’s moral compass and Shastri’s dedication.
The Information and Public Relations Department organised a Sarva Dharma prayer meeting, where Gandhi’s favourite hymn Ramdhun was performed.
Deputy Chief Ministers Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and Pravati Parida, ministers, legislators, and senior leaders joined the solemn occasion.
