The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a strict advisory for fishermen in Odisha, cautioning against venturing into the sea until September 24.

A low‑pressure system over the Bay of Bengal is expected to trigger strong winds reaching 50–60 kmph, creating hazardous conditions for fishing vessels and coastal activities.

Authorities have directed those already at sea to return to shore by the evening of September 21.

Disaster management teams and police have been placed on alert, with coastal districts instructed to monitor compliance closely.

The IMD has also forecast heavy rainfall and rough sea conditions across Odisha, reinforcing the need for precautionary measures.
