Odisha Govt Waives Stamp Duty on PM SVANidhi Loans
In a significant relief for street vendors, the Odisha Government has announced full remission of stamp duty on hypothecation agreements for all three tranches of loans under the PM SVANidhi Scheme.
The Revenue and Disaster Management Department issued the order on June 16, 2026, under Section 9 of the Indian Stamp Act, 1899.
The directive, signed by Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee, Additional Chief Secretary, on behalf of the Governor, aims to reduce financial burdens and encourage vendors to access formal credit. The PM SVANidhi Scheme provides affordable working capital loans to street vendors to help them sustain and expand their businesses.
This move aligns with the state’s commitment to financial inclusion and self‑reliance, ensuring thousands of vendors across Odisha benefit from easier access to credit without additional costs.
