Odisha Govt to Clear Pending Old‑Age Pensions by October
Bhubaneswar: More than 20.33 lakh senior citizens in Odisha have been waiting for their old‑age pensions for the past five months due to technical and procedural delays.
Social Security & Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (SSEPD) Minister Nityananda Gond assured the Assembly that all pending dues will be credited directly to beneficiaries’ accounts by October.
The minister explained that system integration issues between the SSEPD Department, State Finance Department, Treasury authorities, and Central agencies had temporarily disrupted disbursements.
He emphasised that the government is aware of the inconvenience caused and is working to resolve the bottlenecks to ensure uninterrupted pension delivery in the future.
Beneficiaries will receive arrears along with their regular October pension cycle, restoring confidence in the state’s social security framework.
