Odisha Govt Revises ULB Ward Delimitation Schedule Ahead of Elections

Bhubaneswar: The Housing and Urban Development Department has released a revised timetable for ward delimitation and reservation in Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) across Odisha.

The schedule applies to four municipal corporations—Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Berhampur, and Rourkela—and 99 municipalities/NACs, excluding Boudh district.

For corporations, ward division and reservation details must be finalised by October 8, followed by draft notifications on October 22 and public objections by October 31.

Municipalities and NACs will see draft notifications on October 12, objections by October 21, provisional notifications on October 28, appeals between October 28 and November 11, disposal of appeals by November 25, and final notifications by November 30.

Officials including Municipal Commissioners, District Magistrates, and Executive Officers have been directed to strictly adhere to deadlines.

The process is crucial as ward boundaries determine voter distribution, while reservations ensure representation for women, Scheduled Castes, and Scheduled Tribes.

Timely completion is essential to keep the election calendar on track.
