Odisha Govt Orders Crime Branch Probe into Textbook Errors
Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has directed the Crime Branch to investigate serious lapses in school textbooks for Classes I–VIII.
Acting on the findings of a committee led by the Development Commissioner, the CM instructed the SCERT Director to file an FIR with the Crime Branch SP to probe the entire textbook preparation process.
Earlier, the committee flagged widespread errors, leading to the suspension of the former SCERT Director and three Assistant Directors, with disciplinary action against six others.
The Chief Minister emphasised that the mistakes were grave enough to warrant criminal accountability, underscoring the government’s commitment to restoring trust in the education system.
The probe aims to identify those responsible and ensure corrective measures are enforced swiftly, safeguarding the integrity of Odisha’s school curriculum.
