Odisha Govt to Bear Student Fees, SOP on KG‑to‑PG Admissions Soon
Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj announced that a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) will soon be released to streamline the KG‑to‑PG admission process.
The move comes after the Cabinet’s landmark decision to provide free education from Kindergarten to Post‑Graduation.
Under the new policy, the state government will fully bear admission fees for students enrolled in grant‑in‑aid institutions (categories 662 and 488).
This funding will cover salaries, equipment purchases, and operational costs such as electricity, phone, and internet bills.
Re‑admission fees will also be waived, ensuring smoother access to higher education.
However, the scheme will not extend to self‑financing courses or private colleges.
The SOP is expected to clarify timelines, fund amounts, and release mechanisms, addressing concerns raised by aided colleges about losing fee‑based revenue.
The initiative is set to make higher education more affordable and accessible, reinforcing Odisha’s commitment to inclusive learning opportunities.
