Odisha Govt Declares Mondays as ‘No Meeting Day’ to Prioritize Public Grievance Hearings
Bhubaneswar: In a significant move to strengthen citizen engagement, the Odisha government has declared every Monday as “No Meeting Day.”
The directive, issued by Principal Secretary Suresh Kumar Vashishth, instructs all senior officials—including Additional Chief Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, Commissioners‑cum‑Secretaries, department heads, and district collectors—to avoid scheduling meetings on Mondays unless absolutely urgent.
The decision comes after the government observed that routine meetings were often scheduled on grievance hearing days, limiting officials’ participation.
By freeing Mondays from administrative meetings, the state aims to ensure that senior officers dedicate their time to addressing public concerns more effectively.
Departments and subordinate offices have been asked to strictly adhere to the directive, which has been categorised as a matter of utmost importance.
The move underscores the administration’s commitment to improving responsiveness and accountability in governance.
