Odisha Governor Urges Modernization of St. John Ambulance Fleet
Bhubaneswar: Odisha Governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati has called for the modernisation of St. John Ambulance vehicles with advanced medical equipment, beginning with a pilot ambulance before expanding across the fleet.
Addressing the annual review meeting, the Governor stressed the importance of strengthening volunteer training modules and enhancing inter‑departmental coordination to improve emergency medical services statewide.
He also supported deploying trained volunteers to assist elderly and disabled devotees at Puri’s Srimandir temple, underscoring the need for advanced preparation and compassionate service.
Honorary Secretary Ganesh Chandra Patra presented a detailed report on the organization’s activities and roadmap.
The meeting saw participation from senior officials, including the Director General of Fire Services, Additional Chief Secretary, Transport Commissioner, CMD of Odisha Police Housing & Welfare Corporation, and the Health Department Secretary.
The Governor’s remarks highlighted a clear roadmap for modernising ambulance infrastructure, empowering volunteers, and expanding support services to meet Odisha’s growing healthcare needs.
