Odisha Governor Calls for Smart Classroom Evaluation in Tribal Schools
Bhubaneswar, Nov 25: Odisha Governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati has urged a thorough evaluation of smart classroom boards installed in Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Scheduled Castes (SC) schools to ensure they deliver measurable improvements in student learning outcomes.
Speaking via video conference from Raj Bhavan, the Governor interacted with students, teachers, district collectors, and officials from seven tribal‑dominated districts—Malkangiri, Kandhamal, Koraput, Sundargarh, Mayurbhanj, Rayagada, and Nabarangpur.
The initiative, supported under the State Bank of India’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, has introduced smart interactive panels in 46 SSD schools across these regions.
Students shared how digital classrooms have made lessons more engaging and easier to grasp, while teachers reported improved participation, better academic results, and heightened interest in science and mathematics.
Expressing satisfaction, the Governor said smart classrooms will strengthen teaching capabilities and foster curiosity among tribal children. He also highlighted the urgent need to boost literacy rates among tribal girls.
The Governor extended gratitude to SBI for its support and commended the coordinated efforts of the ST & SC Development Department and district administrations.
Senior officials, including B. Parameswaran, Commissioner‑cum‑Secretary of the ST & SC Development Department, and Ratna Teja Dinkar Akela, Chief General Manager of SBI, joined the discussions.
