Odisha Cop Suspended for ₹10 Lakh Job Scam in Kalahandi

Kalahandi district witnessed a shocking case of fraud as a police constable was suspended for duping a fish trader of nearly Rs 10 lakh under the false promise of securing a government job.

According to reports, IRB constable Dilip Bag allegedly collected Rs 9 lakh in 45 instalments from Bhola Nath Teji, a fish trader from Bodelbandh village.

Bag assured Teji that his son would be appointed in the Horticulture Department. However, after being transferred, Bag avoided Teji’s calls and failed to return the money.

Teji lodged complaints at local police stations, but no immediate action was taken. Eventually, he approached the Kalahandi SP, who ordered an inquiry.

Investigators confirmed Bag had taken the money, repaid only Rs  2  lakh, and failed to return the remaining amount.

Following the inquiry, the SP suspended Bag for misconduct and directed him to repay the balance.

The case highlights growing concerns about job scams in Odisha, where vulnerable citizens are exploited with false employment promises.
