Odisha CM Removes Six‑Attempt Cap for OCS Exam, Extends Age Limit to 42

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has announced a major reform in the state’s civil services recruitment process.

The long‑standing restriction of six maximum attempts for the Odisha Civil Services (OCS) examination has been scrapped, allowing aspirants to appear until they reach the upper age limit.

In addition, the government has raised the maximum age limit for job seekers to 42 years, widening opportunities for candidates who were previously excluded.

The CM also revealed that restrictions in the compassionate appointment system have been relaxed to benefit more applicants.

Majhi stressed that corruption or malpractice in examinations will be treated as a serious offence.

Exam mafias and officials found guilty of irregularities will face strict action, even for minor lapses in management.

The reforms aim to ensure equal opportunities, transparency, and a corruption‑free environment for all aspirants preparing for government jobs in Odisha.
