Independence Day Tragedy: Auto Overturns, 8 Students Injured in Balasore
Balasore, Odisha (August 15): On Independence Day morning, tragedy struck near Shathi Chhak in Bahanaga block when an auto carrying school students overturned due to slippery roads from heavy rain.
Eight students sustained injuries, while the driver was critically hurt.
Local residents rushed to the scene, rescuing the injured and transporting them to Soro hospital.
The driver, in serious condition, was later shifted to Balasore District Headquarters Hospital for advanced treatment.
Authorities confirmed that the accident was caused by the auto losing balance on the rain‑soaked road.
The incident has raised concerns about student safety and road conditions during monsoon season.
