Odisha CM Majhi Declares “Total War” on Organised Crime
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has declared a sweeping crackdown on organised crime, calling for a “total war” against syndicates that threaten public safety.
In a high-level meeting with senior officials, Majhi directed the police to abandon reactive policing and embrace proactive strategies, including crime mapping, intelligence gathering, and visible round-the-clock patrolling.
Drawing parallels with Odisha’s successful anti-Naxal campaign, Majhi urged law enforcement to replicate the zero-tolerance approach against sand mafias and other criminal networks.
“Criminals must live in fear, while ordinary citizens feel secure,” he emphasised, underscoring the need for community-friendly policing that encourages information flow and pre-emptive action.
The Chief Minister instructed district-level officers to function as a unified team, with regular law-and-order reviews and prompt reporting to higher authorities.
