Odisha CM Launches Mukhyamantri Kanya Bibaha Yojana to Support Poor Families
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has announced the launch of the Mukhyamantri Kanya Bibaha Yojana, a welfare scheme aimed at easing the financial burden of marriage expenses for economically weaker families, particularly those belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes.
The scheme provides financial assistance to parents, ensuring their daughters begin married life with dignity and respect.
Beyond financial support, the initiative seeks to eliminate dowry practices, promote widow remarriage, and make marriage registration mandatory to strengthen women’s social security.
Majhi emphasised that women’s empowerment and dignity are central to the government’s mission.
He said the scheme will remove worries from poor families and help build a society where daughters are valued with honour.
