Odisha CM Hands Over 2,067 Appointment Letters at 18th Nijukti Mela, Reaffirms Focus on Youth Employment
Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi distributed 2,067 appointment letters during the 18th Nijukti Mela organised by the ST & SC Development Department in Bhubaneswar.
The recruitment drive included the appointment of 1,913 Sevak/Sevikas and 154 tribal language teachers.
Addressing the newly recruited candidates, the Chief Minister said employment generation, youth empowerment and skill development remain among the state government’s top priorities.
He stated that the latest appointments reflect the government’s commitment to creating job opportunities and strengthening the education sector.
According to the Chief Minister, the Odisha government has provided 48,642 appointments since June 2024, including 28,693 teaching positions across various departments.
Urging the newly appointed educators to become mentors and guides, Mohan Charan Majhi emphasised the need for nurturing students with confidence and encouragement rather than relying on strict disciplinary measures.
He called on teachers to play an active role in shaping the future of the state’s youth.
The Chief Minister also asserted that the government has adopted a zero-tolerance policy towards irregularities in educational schemes and activities that undermine the dignity of the teaching profession, including corporal punishment and alcohol consumption within school environments.
Highlighting initiatives for tribal and Scheduled Caste education, he referred to the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP), primary education in 10 tribal languages, the Shaheed Madho Singh Hathakharcha Yojana, expansion of Ekalavya Model Residential Schools and the Foreign Scholarship Scheme for students from marginalised communities.
Speaking on the occasion, ST & SC Development Minister Nityananda Gond described teaching as a mission of nation-building, while Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari underscored the crucial role educators play in shaping future leaders.
The Nijukti Mela once again highlighted the state government’s focus on employment generation and strengthening educational institutions, particularly in tribal and underserved regions of Odisha.
