Odisha CM Enhances Lawyers’ Welfare Assistance by 40%
Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has announced a significant 40% hike in financial assistance under the State Welfare Fund for Lawyers.
The move, welcomed by legal associations across Odisha, aims to provide greater financial security to lawyers and their families.
Under the revised scheme, families of lawyers with less than five years of service will now receive Rs 1,05,000 in case of death.
The assistance increases progressively with years of service, reaching a maximum of Rs 6,30,000 for lawyers completing 30 years of practice or for their families in case of death.
The last revision was made in 2021, and this latest increase comes in response to long‑standing demands from the legal fraternity.
The government emphasised that the measure recognises the contribution of lawyers to the justice system and ensures stronger welfare support.
