Odisha Braces for Rain as Fresh Low Pressure Likely Over Bay of Bengal

Bhubaneswar: A fresh weather system is likely to develop over the Bay of Bengal, raising concerns about rainfall during Odisha’s upcoming Dussehra celebrations.

According to meteorological observations, a cyclonic circulation currently active over the Gulf of Thailand and adjoining areas is expected to move towards the Andaman Sea, paving the way for the formation of a low-pressure area over the southeast Bay of Bengal around October 13.

Weather experts are closely monitoring the system’s development.

While the formation of a low-pressure area appears likely, officials have not yet confirmed its intensity, future track, or whether it could intensify into a more significant weather system.

Meanwhile, several parts of Odisha are already experiencing unstable weather conditions, with intermittent rainfall and thunderstorm activity reported across the state.

The Meteorological Department has issued a Yellow Warning for 13 districts, advising residents to remain alert to changing weather conditions.

If the low-pressure area develops as anticipated, Odisha may witness increased rainfall activity during the Dussehra festivities, potentially affecting outdoor celebrations and pandal visits.

Authorities are expected to issue further updates as the system evolves over the coming days.

Residents, especially those in coastal and low-lying areas, have been advised to keep track of official weather bulletins and take necessary precautions if rainfall intensifies.
